Can a Tag device be installed anywhere other than Speedy Glass?
Yes, however, Unica's promotional pricing will not be available.
Where can a policyholder have a Tag device installed?
Book an appointment directly with a Speedy Glass service center. To find the nearest location, visit speedyglass.ca.
What do policyholders need to bring to their installation appointment?
Their Unica pink slip is required and must be presented at the time of their appointment.
Will affected policyholders receive a notification?
Policyholders will receive a communication 90 days prior to their renewal date outlining the vehicle(s) subject to a high theft surcharge, how it can be removed, and any discount being applied.
What if a policyholder chooses not to install a Tag device?
An annual $500 High Theft Vehicle Surcharge applies to any vehicle identified above.
What if my client already had a Tag device installed prior to becoming a Unica policyholder?
The $500 surcharge will not be applied, and our Theft Recovery Discount will be applicable. The insured must provide a Tag Certificate to their Broker to receive the Theft Recovery Discount.
What is the Theft Recovery Discount?
The Theft Recovery Discount is applied to the policyholder's insurance policy, removing the $500 High Theft Vehicle Surcharge. A 10% discount is applicable to: Comprehensive, Specified Perils, and Comprehensive portion of All Perils.
What happens if the policyholder’s Tag-protected vehicle is stolen?
The policyholder should contact the police immediately and report their vehicle stolen. The police will provide them with an event number to be used when reporting the theft to Tag. Tag will initiate the tracking and recovery process. Additional information can be found on Tag's website. After first contacting police and Tag, insureds should contact Unica's Claims department to report the loss and seek additional guidance.
